These are the sign for the Matagarup Bridge over the Swan River near the school Augie attends, Trinity
College. Australia is amazing about taking the culture of the original residents, the Aboriginal people, into consideration when designing new structures. In their language this means " the meeting place", as some traveled long distances to meet here during the dry spells when this area was not covered in water. Words that end in "up" in this language means "place of water".
The bridge is in colors of black and white to reinforce unity between the Aboriginals and white people. The bridge design is that of the serpent which is very important to the earlier cultures. Holly, Shelby, and I toured this place after dropping Augie off for this rowing regatta about 6:00 on Saturday morning
