a rare summer storm

Last night we had a jim-dandy of a storm here and got some rain. Lightning, thunder, rain but no wind to speak of - can you imagine that! Mick told me that it is the first rain for this area for 93 days. I really enjoyed the storm and today was cooler than normal until this afternoon when the sun came out in full force. It was hot but not humid and we were able to dry two loads of washing on the line yet today. Predictions are that we will have about 7 days of this weather. I had a nice bike ride this evening anyway though the clouds look a little crazy.

We met with Augie's teacher at the Montessori school he will be attending in a couple of weeks. He will go five days each week from 8 until noon - it is more like what we would call a structured pre-school. He loves the playground there and his teacher has had very active, intelligent, extremely competetive boys like him before so I think he will be fine.

Huxley popped another tooth thru today - he now has two on the bottom and one on the top though I think the left front tooth on top is about to make it's grand entrance, too. Augie was disappointed that he has not been the first to find a new tooth so we are keeping quiet about the left one so that he can find it first.

I have eaten my weight in fresh figs lately and they are just delicious! There is a public park near here where the fig trees grow and we kept thinking they had to be dark to be ripe. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that these a White Adriatic figs that are fully ripe when the skin is yellowish-green!(good ol' Google!) Mick fashioned a fig picker from a drapery rod and a sock that works very well but when we forget to take it we have a forked branch that we wrangle. I am sure we are entertaining to the onlookers. :)

No pics today but will try to load more tomorrow. I hope all of you are doing well!

Carma, or as Augie says "Gramma Cahma"
